SHEIKH ABDUL QADIR JAILANI adalah seorang alim ulama dan ahli sufi yang cukup dikenali keutamaan dan kemuliaan ilmunya di kalangan umat Islam. Diceritakan suatu hari Sheikh Abdul Qadir jailani berjalan merantau seorang diri. Dalam mengarungi padang pasir yang panas terik, ia merasa kehausan. Tiba-tiba ia melihat sebuah bejana dari perak melayang di udara lalu perlahan-lahan turun kepadanya diselimuti awan di atasnya.

Saat itu diceritakan terdengar suara ghaib di angkasa : "Hai Abdul Qadir, minumlah isi bejana ini. Hari ini kami telah menghalalkan kamu makan dan minum semua yang selama ini aku haramkan . Dan telah Aku gugurkan semua kewajiban untukmu." Bunyi suara ghaib itu.

Sebagai orang yang arif, Abdul Qadir cukup tahu bahawa suara ghaib yang menyerupai wahyu itu cuma syaitan yang menggoda keteguhan imannya. Maka marahlah ia dan berkata : "Hai mal'un pergilah engkau dari sini. Sesungguhnya aku tidak lebih mulia dibandingkan dengan Nabi Muhammad S.A.W di sisi Allah Taala. Kepada Rasulullah saja tidak mungkin berlaku ketentuan semacam itu. Barang yang diharamkan Allah selamanya tetap haram, dan kewajiban hamba kepadanya tidak pernah digugurkan termasuk pada diriku." Ujarnya tegas.
